My husband married another woman using my money, but when he came back from his “honeymoon,” he found out I had already sold the mansion where he planned to live with his mistress. They thought they could drain me for my fortune forever… until they returned from their secret wedding and discovered they no longer had a single key or a single cent to their names.
It was nearly eight at night, and I was still in my office in Polanco, exhausted after closing the biggest deal of the year. My company, Aguilar Global Imports, had just secured a multi-million-dollar contract with a European luxury brand. I had worked nonstop for weeks — meetings until midnight, flights across the country, endless paperwork — all to sustain the luxurious life my “family” loved so much. While I was grinding, my husband Mauricio enjoyed it like he had been born entitled to every single peso I earned.
I picked up my phone and texted him, the man who was supposedly on a “business trip” in Singapore.
“Take care. I miss you so much.”
No reply. Again.
I opened Instagram just to clear my head and scroll mindlessly. That was when my entire world split open in less than a second.
The first post on my feed was from my mother-in-law, Lidia Ríos. It was a beautiful beach wedding photo. The man in the ivory suit, smiling with pure joy — a smile he had never once given me in nine years of marriage — was my husband, Mauricio. Standing beside him in a flowing white dress, glowing and visibly pregnant, was Valeria Cruz, a junior marketing executive from my own company.
The caption read:
“My son is finally truly happy with Valeria. He finally chose the right woman. God bless this beautiful union 💍❤️”
My blood turned to ice.
I zoomed in. There they all were — his sisters, cousins, uncles, even some of my own distant relatives who had benefited from my generosity over the years. Everyone was smiling. Everyone was celebrating. They had all known. They had helped hide it.
While I was paying the mortgage on our mansion in Bosques de las Lomas, financing Mauricio’s ridiculous sports car collection, and wiring monthly allowances to his mother, they were planning my replacement.
